GCU University Lahore officially allowed Chatgpt for education – VC Confirmed
Vice chancellor GC University Lahore has made an important announcement on his social media profile about the usage of chatgpt. He said that Dear GCU Faculty Members.
I am writing to encourage you to incorporate ChatGPT, a powerful language model developed by OpenAI, into our teaching methods.
As you know, in one stroke, this technology has revolutionized the way we learn and teach. With the advent of innovative tools and platforms happening all around us, we have the opportunity to enhance the quality and effectiveness of our teaching and the learning of our students. ChatGPT is one such tool that can significantly improve the way we engage with our students.
Those who may not know, ChatGPT uses state-of-the-art natural language processing to understand and respond to human language. It can be used to answer questions, generate text, and even hold conversations with students. With its vast knowledge base, ChatGPT can help students learn new concepts, explore complex topics, and deepen their understanding of the material.
Here are a few examples of how ChatGPT can be used in teaching:
As a tutor: ChatGPT can be used as a tutor to answer students’ questions about a particular topic. For instance, if you are teaching a course on history, you can direct your students to ask ChatGPT about the causes of World War II, and ChatGPT can provide a detailed explanation, which can subsequently become part of the critical discussion in the classroom.
As a writing assistant: ChatGPT can be used to provide feedback on students’ writing assignments. For instance, students can submit their essays to ChatGPT, and it can provide suggestions on how to improve their writing.
As a discussion partner: ChatGPT can be used to facilitate discussions on topics related to the course. For instance, if you are teaching a course on ethics, you can ask ChatGPT to generate ethical dilemmas, and students can discuss their solutions.
I believe that incorporating ChatGPT into your teaching methods will be a valuable asset in improving your students’ learning outcomes. It can help students engage better with the material, enhance their critical thinking skills, and improve their overall academic performance.
I encourage my GCU FACULTY to explore the various applications of ChatGPT and find ways to integrate it into your teaching methods.
Best wishes
Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi
