No More Job Quotas for Children of Deceased Employees Under 17A Rule in Punjab

The Punjab Government abolished Rule 17A related to government employment on quota for children of government employees who died during service.

With this measure, now children or widows of employees who died during service will not get government jobs on service quota.

Earlier, as per Rule 17A, a government job was given to a son, daughter, or widow on the death of a government servant. The Governor of Punjab has repealed Rule 17A of the Punjab Civil Servants (Appointment and Conditions of Employment) Rules, 1974 in exercising powers under Section 23 of the Punjab Civil Servants Act, 1974.

An official notification has been issued in this regard.
