Transfer Policy for Married Female Teachers 2025 – Big Releif by CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz

The Punjab Government has introduced a major amendment to the e-Transfer Policy 2025 for school teachers, specially focusing on the transfer rights of married female teachers. The revised policy aims to provide much-needed relief to women working in far-flung areas after marriage, allowing them to transfer closer to their husband’s location.

This progressive policy change was made official through a notification issued by the School Education Department on 9th May 2025. It reflects the government’s strong commitment to empowering women and supporting them in balancing professional and personal lives.

This initiative has been highly appreciated and is being credited to the visionary leadership of Senior Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, who are both focused on making Punjab a more inclusive and supportive province for working women.

✅ Key Highlights of the Transfer Policy 2025 for Married Female Teachers:

  1. New Category Introduced:
A new hardship category has been added to the transfer policy for female teachers. If a female teacher gets married and her husband is residing in a different district or tehsil, she can now apply for a transfer under the “marriage-based hardship” category.
  2. Definition Added in Policy:
The policy clearly states that a female teacher’s transfer will be considered a hardship case if she gets married in another district or tehsil. She will be allowed to transfer to her husband’s area.
  3. Application Procedure:
    • The teacher must apply online via the e-transfer system.
    • Her request will be verified by the Chief Executive Officer (DEA) of her current district.
    • The CEO of the target district (where transfer is requested) will also review and recommend the transfer.
    • A special committee will give the final decision.
  4. Transfer Approval Committee Includes:
    • Additional Secretary (School Education)
    • Director EMIS
    • Director (Monitoring/Public Instruction)
    • Any other officer nominated by the Secretary
  5. No Re-transfer Before HQ:
Once the transfer is approved due to marriage, the teacher will not be allowed another transfer before reaching the District Headquarters of her new district.

🔄 Preference Order for Hardship Transfers:

If multiple teachers apply for the same post under hardship categories, preference will be given in the following order:

  1. Widow / Divorcee / Khula cases
  2. Medical cases
  3. Disability
  4. Wedlock (Spouse Working)
  5. Unmarried single parent
  6. Female teacher transferred after marriage

Also, among applicants in the same category, the teacher who has spent more time at their current post will be given preference.

📋 Year-Round Processing:

Under this new update, marriage-based transfers will not be restricted by the usual transfer schedule. These transfers can be processed and approved at any time during the year.

📝 Final Note:

This is a much-needed and well-appreciated policy shift by the Punjab government. With the help of this initiative, many married female teachers will be able to live closer to their families, reduce travel stress, and better manage household responsibilities.

The credit for this women-friendly policy goes to Rana Sikandar Hayat for bringing the issue forward and to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for ensuring its quick approval and implementation. This reform is a clear sign that Punjab is heading towards a more inclusive and supportive education system.
