What is Merchant Navy?

PMA is one of the oldest Seafarers’ Training institutes of the Region, providing professional Maritime Training since 1962.

The Merchant Navy is the name given to the international commercial shipping industry. It is made up of a large number of shipping companies who recruit their own Officer Cadets.

Important Dates To Remember

Program Offered:

Two Years’ Cadetship Programme (Nautical/Marine Engineering) leading to the award of an Associate degree in Ship Management/Marine Engineering in affiliation with NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi.

Eligibility Criteria for admission:

Qualification: FSC (Pre-Engineering) OR Equivalent with Physics, Mathematics & Chemistry.

Age: Not more than 20 years on 31st December 2021 (relaxable by one year for those belonging to FATA/Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir)

Entry Test: Candidates must pass the Entry Test as prescribed by the Academy.

Medical Fitness. The medical examination is conducted in Military Hospitals designated by the Academy. In addition, the applicants shall be required to pass the “Visual and Colour Perception Test”, from the Mercantile Marine Department (MMD), Karachi, after final selection. Failures in this test will not be eligible for admission in PMA.
