Local Govt Elections in Karachi All Schools and Colleges Remain Close Today

All Schools and Colleges in Karachi and Hyderabad remain closed Today, 14th January 2023. The cause of the closure of institutions is preparation for the Local Government elections which are scheduled on 15th January 2023.

The provincial Government issued notifications from the Sindh School Education and Literacy Department and College Education Department. The Local Government Elections Phase- II will be held on 15 January 2023.

Earlier Phase – II elections were scheduled in July 2022. But due to the devastating flood in Sindh areas, it was postponed at the request of the Provincial Government and scheduled on 28 August. Then later on moved to 23 October and finally again on 15 January 2023.

The Sindh government again requested ECP for the delay but the Election Commission of Pakistan rejected the plea of the Sindh Government and declared that elections will be held on the given schedule.

In this regard, all Schools and Colleges will remain closed today for the preparations of the upcoming elections on Sunday. The Public holiday announced on 14th January in Karachi and Hyderabad.
