PMD Warns about Torrential Rains Expected from 20 June 2022 – 22 June 2022

Pakistan Meteorological Department warned the Citizens and all the concerned authorities about torrential rains are expected to start from Monday 20 June 2022 to Wednesday 22 June 2022. According to the alert Heavy rains are forecast in most parts of the country from June 20 to Wednesday, June 22.

According to the Meteorological Department, a series of heavy rains will enter the upper central parts of the country from Monday. Due to this between 20th June to 22nd June Islamabad KPK( Chitral Dir Swat Buner Shangla Kohistan Mansehra Abbottabad Haripur Peshawar Nowshera Mardan Charsadda Bajaur Mohmand Khyber and Karam Kohat Bannu Dera Ismail Khan and Waziristan), Punjab ( Rawalpindi Murree Galyat Attock Chakwal Jhelum Mianwali Sargodha Khushab Bhakkar. Layyah, DG Khan, Hafizabad, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Mandi Bahudeen, Jhang, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Sheikupura, Qasoor, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, Multan ) Kashmir ( Bhimber, Kotli, Ponch, Havelian Haitian Muzaffarabad, Valley Neelam), Gilgit Baltistan ( Astor-e-Ghazar, Gilgit-Baltistan, Diamer, Hunza, Skardu ) and Rani Musa Khel, Kolo Barkhan from North-Eastern Balochistan Province ( Zob Sherani Musakhel Kolo Barkhan are expected t with rain, thunderstorm and hail.

From 21st June to Wednesday 22nd June 2022 Sukkur Larkana Kashmore Shikarpur Jacobabad Shaheed Benazirabad Dadu Jamshoro Hyderabad Dera Bugti, Jaffarabad, Naseerabad, Lasbela, and Khuzdar are likely to receive showers with strong winds and thundershowers.

  • Landslides in KP’s Galyat Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan due to heavy rains
  • Heavy rains threaten to flood local rivers and streams in KP, Punjab, Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and North Balochistan.
  • Peshawar Mardan Nowshera Islamabad Rawalpindi Sargodha Faisalabad Gujranwala and Lahore low-lying areas are at risk of flooding
  • Strong winds threaten weak infrastructure in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan
  • Passengers should be more careful during this time and avoid unnecessary travel.
