Winter Holidays for Medical and Nursing Colleges Extended in Punjab

Punjab Government announced an extension in winter holidays for all Medical and Nursing Colleges in the province due to a sudden drop in temperature. Earlier in the last week Punjab School Education Department ( SED ) also extended the winter vacations from 2 January to 8 January 2023.

In the mid of December, the winter holidays were announced in all private and public schools, colleges, and Universities up to 1 January. But due to a rising temperature in the province, Punjab Higher Education Commission and School Education Department announced extending the winter holidays until 8 January 2023.

According to the latest statement released by the Punjab Specialized Health Department, all medical and nursing institutions in Punjab will remain closed until 8 January. However, the medical students on rotation will continue to carry out their duties at the hospitals, according to the notification.

All Punjab Schools and Colleges will remain closed until 8 January and will reopen on Monday 9 January 2023. The temperature in Punjab is gradually increasing and to avoid possible illness Punjab Government decided to extend the winter vacations.

Punjab Government informed to all public and private schools to act strictly on the advice and not open the schools until 8 January 2023. In this regard, the Government planned a strategy.

Action will be taken against public and private educational institutions found guilty of violating the winter vacation extension schedule.

There are Chief Executives across the province who are carrying out immediate action in case of violation by educational institutions through their raids.

In this regard, at the district level, seasonal teams have been formed. Show cause notices will be issued and fines will be imposed on the educational institutions found guilty of violating the schedule of extension of winter vacations.
