Punjab Launched Women on Wheel Program to Empower Women
In line with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s vision to promote women’s empowerment, Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Beenish Fatima has launched the ‘Women on Wheels’ initiative at the Girls Guide House in Rawalpindi.
During the launch, CTO Fatima invited women to join scooter and motorcycle driving training sessions offered through this program. Interested participants can register with the traffic police, and the training will take place at the institute itself.
The inauguration featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony, where Regional Girls Guide Commissioner Dr. Saira Mufti welcomed CTO Fatima. The girl guides also presented her with a bouquet as a token of appreciation. In the initial phase, around 25 girls from the institute will benefit from the training.
CTO Beenish Fatima emphasized that the primary objective of the ‘Women on Wheels’ program is to empower women by equipping them with the skills to drive confidently and independently.
She highlighted how this initiative will help girls become self-reliant, reducing the need for family assistance in transportation and enabling them to travel freely to school, college, university, or work. The program also ensures that participants receive their driving licenses promptly.
Moreover, women teachers from Rawalpindi and surrounding areas have also been encouraged to join the driving courses, whether for cars or motorcycles, by contacting the traffic police training institute for registration.
This initiative aims to extend empowerment to a broader range of women across the region.
