An increase in Gas Prices 400 Fixed Charges For Protected Users

In Islamabad, the government has issued a notification approving a 67% increase in gas prices, as per the conditions set by the IMF. Under this new arrangement, protected consumers will now be required to pay fixed charges of Rs. 400 along with a meter rent of Rs. 40 per month.

Additionally, Ogra has introduced a revised gas price schedule for Sui Northern and Sui Southern. According to the notification, the minimum price for domestic consumers falling under the protected category will be Rs. 200, while the maximum price for the same category will be Rs. 350 per MMBtu.

As per the notification, customers not under protection will be required to pay monthly fixed charges ranging from Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 2,000. Additionally, gas rates for bulk meters and capacitive power will stand at Rs. 2,900 per MMBtu.

Tandoors will be charged between Rs. 110 and Rs. 700 per MMBtu for gas usage, as specified in the notification. Commercial consumers, on the other hand, will have a fixed gas rate of Rs. 3,900 per MMBtu.

The notification also stipulates the gas price for the CNG sector at Rs. 3,750 per MMBtu, while needle gas for cement factories sees an increase to Rs. 4,400 per MMBtu.

For fertilizer factories, the price of needle gas is set at Rs. 1,597 per MMBtu, while gas rates for power plants are fixed at Rs. 1,050 per MMBtu.
