Audit Report Reveals Illegal Appointments at AIOU

An audit report has revealed that 99 employees were unlawfully hired at Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) during the 2022-23 period.

According to the report, the authorities neglected the provincial and regional quotas in these appointments.

The findings show that the hiring process did not follow proper procedures. There was no public advertisement, which is a requirement according to the Establishment Division’s rules.

Additionally, the auditors were not provided with test-based merit lists, and the examination papers of the candidates were also not shown for verification.

The report also pointed out that the basic eligibility criteria were ignored before conducting the screening tests. Furthermore, these appointments were not made based on recommendations from the Selection Board.

As a result, the appointments, especially for positions from Grade 19 to Grade 9, have been labeled as illegal. So far, the university administration has not provided any official response to the audit findings.
