Govt Announces Public Holiday on Friday 1st September 2023
The Government of Sindh announces a public holiday across the Province on Friday, 1st September 2023 on the occasion of the 280th Urs of Saint Abdul Latif Bhattai.
All offices, educational institutions, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, local councils, and corporations will remain closed except for essential services and hospitals.
The Government declares 14th Safar 1445 AH September 1, 2023, as a public holiday in the entire Province on Saint Abdul Latif Bhattai Urs.
Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai ( 1689 to 1752) was a great Sufi poet and saint. He is widely considered to be the greatest poet of the Sindhi language. His famous poems were collected and compiled in “Shah Jo Risalo” which is available in numerous versions and also has been translated into Urdu, English, and other languages.
The Urs begins every year on the 14th Safar and remains for three days. The Government pays tribute and declares a public holiday on the starting day of Urs.
