Increase in Conveyance Allowance Demand by Govt Employees in 2023-24 Budget
When we talk about conveyance, it is common that we are talking about traveling. Government employees either teachers or non-teaching staff all are traveling on a daily basis from home to office. The Government of Pakistan added some allowances in the basic pay of the employees to meet their requirements. The common allowances which are linked with basic salary are medical allowance, house allowance, and conveyance allowance.
Why Govt Employees Demand an Increase in Conveyance Allowance in Budget 2023-24
As we all know the Government already provides a conveyance allowance, but due to the current inflation and economic situation in the country it is not enough. Most employees are traveling by their own vehicles like cars and bikes and some are using public transport.
Due to an increase in petrol price, the existing conveyance allowance is not enough to meet the monthly expense. The fare of public transport also increased.
Female employees cannot ride bikes and cars, so they must choose public transport. According to an analysis the monthly traveling expenses fall between 10000-25000 per month.
The conveyance allowance was revised last time in 2014. We can see a remarkable increase in petrol prices. Employees are looking towards the government to increase the conveyance allowance. The existing Conveyance Allowance ( CA) for employees from BPS-01 to BPS-16 is given below.

The government already focusing on the ongoing situation and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif call a meeting of the cabinet to discuss the matter of increments in salaries and pensions. It is expected that there will be an increase of 15%-30% in salary and pension.
As most employees working in BPS -16 or above use a car, so there allowance should be Rs. 15000/- per month. Employees from BPS -01 to BPS – 15 are using the bike, their conveyance allowance should be Rs. 7000/- per month.
