HEC Offers Fully-Funded Scholarships for Gilgit-Baltistan Students
scholarships for students from Gilgit-Baltistan (GB). These scholarships aim to enable students to study at any public-sector university across Pakistan. The program seeks to bridge the educational gap between students from less-served areas like GB and those from more urbanized regions.
Eligibility and Deadline
The scholarship is available to students who have completed their intermediate education and are under 22 years of age as of the closing date of the application.
Students already enrolled in undergraduate programs after Fall 2023 are also eligible. The application deadline for the current batch is September 30, and the scholarship covers tuition, hostel fees, a monthly stipend, books, and travel allowance.
Awareness Campaigns and Further Opportunities
The HEC team, led by Adviser (Scholarships) Mohammad Raza Chohan, conducted awareness sessions at Karakoram International University (KIU) in Gilgit, as well as its sub-campuses in Hunza and Baltistan, to guide students through the application process.
Students were also informed of other scholarship opportunities and the significance of applying. According to HEC Project Director Javed Hassan Awan, the test for applicants will be held in mid-October, with exact dates to be communicated via email.
In addition to this, the HEC’s initiatives are aimed at empowering the youth to contribute to Pakistan’s socio-economic growth.
